Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady)
The Dresdner Frauenkirche is a evangelic-Lutheran church and offers glamorous concerts, peaceful service and free sightseeing. It represents a highlight of the protestant church construction in Saxony and a masterpiece of the European Baroque era.
Zwinger
The Zwinger is one of the most famous constructions of the late baroque era. As one of Dresdens landmarks it is known for its gate with the golden crown. Worth seeing is also the world famous art gallery Alte Meister, the porcelain collection, the armoury, the zoology museum and the mathematic physical parlour. With the wonderful fountain and a brilliant setting the Zwinger bids you to stay. During the summer it often happens that these lovely surroundings house open-air concerts.
Semperoper
The Semperoper Dresden is one of the most famous opera houses world vide. This is mostly thanks to the high quality ensemble presented by the Saxony state opera and its well known music tradition. Acoustic body is the traditional Saxony State band Dresden
Fürstenzug
The 102 meter long Fürstenzug on the north wall of the stableyard shows the procession of princes and kings of the Saxon dynasty Wettin. This piece of art was created from 1904 until 1907and is painted on original Meißener porcelain in all 25.000 pieces which makes it the largest porcelain portrait in the world.
Brühlsche Terrasse
Thanks to the baroque conversion of the mighty fortress facilities on the Elbbank, a wonderful promenade was created. The constructor was the Saxon minister Heinrich earl of Brühl, who in 1739 had the areas donated to him as gifts from his electors and hence constructed a baroque pleasure garden with a palace, a gallery and a belvedere.
Großer Garten
The Großer Garten is placed south east of the city core and is currently the largest and most beautiful Park area in Dresden, which at the edge offers you a botanic garden and a Zoo. Since 1950 the Park train offers you the possibility to enjoy the park while relaxing in one of the authentic wagons.
Gläserne Manufaktur
Right next to the Großen Garten and only 1,5 km from the city centre you find the Volkswagen AG production facility which has become famous thanks to its transparent glass walls, hence the name Gläserne Manufaktur which means Glass production facility.
